Building & Construction

Construction refers to the development and modification of the built environment. Countries aim to do so to improve the living environment and thus living standards of their country. Construction impacts the safety levels of the residents, the carbon footprint of a country, and the inclusivity of a society. It can be categorised into three categories, building construction, which includes residential and non-residential construction, infrastructure construction and industrial construction. Construction systems also vary in scale from small scale residential construction to larger scale industrial construction. Construction systems include material inputs (e.g. manpower, natural resources, land), service inputs (e.g. design, urban planning, finance, accounting, research & development, logistics) and regulatory agencies.
